About us

The "Ukrainian Amateur Radio Operators" community was founded in 2024 by two radio amateurs, military signallers and war veterans — Leonid Pavliuchenko (UT3UTX) and Vitalii Lazebnyk (UT0UI).

UARO started out as a local group of users of the Kyiv amateur radio repeaters R3, R81 and K2. Over the course of 2024 it grew exponentially, and its membership spread beyond Ukraine.

In early 2025 we were granted official status as a non-governmental organisation. The UARO NGO has set itself an ambitious goal — to become the driving force behind popularising amateur radio among young people, to carry out research and educational work, to write and publish material on radio communication, and to support the army by training signals specialists.
